Systems Engineering Laboratories, Inc. [SEL]

SYSTEMS 72 - released 1972
  • This machine (internal name Systems 7200) was obtained through the acqusition of another computer company, Multidata.

  • This was apparently designed by programmers instead of the usual engineering process.

  • Also provided with the acquisition was a very poorly made card reader and a fixed head disk design which had low reliability.

  • This design required the addition of over 50 dead bug chips and 'thousands' of wires to get it working.

  • Software was available for it but the product proved to be an engineering nightmare.
