minicomputers
Systems Engineering Laboratories, Inc. [SEL]
- This
machine (internal name Systems 7200) was obtained through the
acqusition of another computer company, Multidata.
- This was apparently designed by programmers instead of the usual engineering process.
- Also provided with the acquisition was a very poorly made card
reader and a fixed head disk design which had low reliability.
- This design required the addition of over 50 dead bug chips and 'thousands' of wires to get it working.
- Software was available for it but the product proved to be an engineering nightmare.
